Recycled Rocket
Calling all starry-eyed galactic space explorers… your mission is to build a DIY rocket ship out of recycled materials!
Before we build, let’s study the parts of our rocket ship:
Materials:
- Tanabata rainbow cookie stars
- Paper towel tube
- Cardboard cone
- White paint
- Paper espresso cup (mini paper cup)
- Colorful plastic straws
- Cardstock
- Tempera cakes
- Washi tape and/or stickers
- Shredded paper strips
- Cardboard scraps
- Hot glue gun
Paint your tube and cone with white paint and then set aside to dry.
Wait until your rocket is dry to the touch. Ours was fully dry in 20 minutes.
Now it’s time to add some paint details!
We started with a blue stripe and some splatter paint!
Do you want to add some washi tape or some stickers to your rocket?
Next we hot glued on our rocket fins and painted them silver!
Then we glued some colored straw pieces to our “engine mount” (paper cup).
We added a black circle (gyro control center) and some shredded paper “blast-off” flames for finishing touches!
